What this app does

nextbeach shows you official coastal and beach bathing spots near you and calculates travel times by car, public transit, or bicycle. We do not store your search queries or your location.

What data we process

Your location

When you click "Near me", your device location is requested. These coordinates are used to find nearby bathing spots and calculate travel times. We do not store them.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (your active consent).

Address entries

When you enter a place or address, that text is sent to Photon (komoot GmbH, Germany) to determine coordinates. We do not store the entries. komoot privacy information: https://www.komoot.com/privacy

Access data

Bathing spots database (Supabase)

Google Maps

Travel times are calculated via Google Maps (Google Ireland Limited, with data processing also by Google LLC, USA). Your location or the address you searched for is transmitted to Google for this purpose. Google privacy information: https://policies.google.com/privacy

Map display (OpenStreetMap / CARTO)

Map data comes from OpenStreetMap (OpenStreetMap contributors). Map tiles are delivered via CARTO (CARTO Inc., USA). Bathing water data comes from the EU Environment Agency. No user data is transmitted to the EEA.

Transfer to the USA

Some of the services mentioned (Vercel, Google, CARTO, Supabase) process data in the USA. Where a provider holds certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, the transfer is based on that framework. Otherwise, the transfer relies on standard contractual clauses pursuant to Art. 46 GDPR.

Web analytics with Plausible

This website uses Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics service. Plausible does not use cookies and does not store personal data. Only aggregated, anonymous usage data is collected, such as pages visited, country of origin, device type, and referral source. Individual persons cannot be identified, and cross-device tracking does not take place. Data is processed on servers in the EU. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in statistical reach measurement pursuant to Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. As no cookies are set and no personal data is processed, no consent is required.
